About the position

The Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of the University College is responsible for leading university-wide undergraduate education initiatives that enhance the academic experience of undergraduate students. This role involves managing various academic programs and services, supporting the Office of Provost in undergraduate education matters, and ensuring the successful implementation of policies and programs aimed at student success, particularly for first-year students.

Responsibilities

  • Lead university-wide undergraduate academic success initiatives.
  • Manage the academic integrity process and course scheduling.
  • Oversee the Academic Success Center and its integration within the University College model.
  • Design and implement the honors program within the undergraduate curriculum.
  • Coordinate international education programs and services.
  • Organize effective academic advising processes for undergraduate students.
  • Promote freshmen seminar courses to enhance the first-year experience.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to improve the second-year experience for students.
  • Facilitate curricular and co-curricular activities that encourage student-faculty engagement.
  • Plan programs to support students in achieving their academic goals.
  • Lead academic integrity, appeals, and readmission committees.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in higher education.
  • At least five years of academic leadership experience at the department chair, director, assistant/associate dean, or dean level.
  • Experience in academic program design and planning, and assessment of program effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity.
  • Experience as a tenured faculty member at the associate level or above is desirable.
  • Successful experience in securing and managing external grants.
