About the position

The Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of the University College is responsible for leading university-wide undergraduate education initiatives that enhance the academic experience of undergraduate students. This role involves managing various academic programs, supporting student success, and collaborating with faculty and staff to implement innovative educational practices. The position also oversees the University College, focusing on first-year student success and retention, and reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead university-wide undergraduate academic success initiatives.
  • Manage the academic integrity process and course scheduling.
  • Oversee the Academic Success Center and its integration within the University College model.
  • Develop and implement academic policies and procedures related to undergraduate education.
  • Coordinate trainings and organize effective academic advising processes for undergraduate students.
  • Promote the importance of freshmen seminar courses to enhance first-year retention rates.
  • Collaborate with other offices to facilitate curricular and co-curricular activities that encourage student-faculty engagement.
  • Lead the academic integrity, appeals, and readmission committees.
  • Strategize and lead the development of a comprehensive international education program.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in higher education.
  • At least five years of academic leadership experience at the department chair, director, assistant/associate dean, or dean level.
  • Experience in academic program design and planning, and assessment of program effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of diversity.
  • Successful experience in securing and managing external grants.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a tenured faculty member at the associate level or above.
