About the position

The Associate Psychometrician at Educational Testing Service (ETS) plays a crucial role in conducting statistical analyses for score reporting and interpretation of testing program results. This position involves developing score interpretation materials, contributing to research, and ensuring the efficacy of educational assessments. The role requires collaboration with senior staff to identify psychometric implications and recommend improvements for testing programs, ultimately supporting ETS's mission to advance quality and equity in education.

Responsibilities

  • Perform statistical analysis required for score reporting and interpretation of testing program results.
  • Work independently on significant aspects of statistical analysis work, requiring guidance in other areas.
  • Help plan, coordinate, and conduct statistical work for score reporting and data interpretation.
  • Draft statistical and research plans and review results for accuracy.
  • Identify program-related problems and their psychometric implications with senior staff.
  • Contribute to discussions on the effects of program changes and recommend long-range goals.
  • Design, develop, and document technical procedures and statistical guidelines for assigned programs.
  • Prepare statistical reports for testing programs and make basic equating decisions.
  • Participate in planning and implementing GENASYS and relevant aspects of the test creation process.
  • Design, program, document, and implement small- to medium-sized statistical and reporting systems.
  • Propose, design, execute, and report on small and medium research projects.
  • Contribute to seminars on psychometric issues for various stakeholders.
  • Suggest improvements and cost reduction strategies for processes and products.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree (or A.B.D. with anticipated completion within 6 months) in Educational Measurement, Quantitative Psychology, statistics, or a closely related field.
  • One year of experience in educational measurement, quantitative psychology, or applied statistics or teaching, which may be gained through doctoral studies.
  • Experience must include psychometric methods, statistical procedures, classical test theory, item response theory, and use of SAS or SPSS.
