About the position

The Associate Public Information Officer position at the United Nations Office for Partnerships involves supporting initiatives that connect and co-create partnerships to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The role includes tracking and analyzing information, drafting communication products, organizing events, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. The incumbent will report to the Chief of Section and collaborate with team members to enhance public communication efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Tracks, researches, and analyzes information on assigned topics/issues.
  • Drafts and compiles various information communications products for target audiences, including press releases and reports.
  • Organizes the clearance, production, and distribution of information material.
  • Prepares drafts of articles or chapters for UN publications.
  • Identifies and proposes information opportunities and activities.
  • Maintains working relationships with key contacts and constituencies.
  • Organizes or participates in events such as conferences and press briefings.
  • Responds to inquiries and prepares related correspondence.
  • Contributes to data collection and analysis, providing insights through data visualization.
  • Provides administrative and substantive support to meetings and conferences.
  • Manages production and publication of materials for various media.

Requirements

  • An advanced university degree (Master's or Doctorate) in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration, or related fields is required.
  • A first-level or advanced degree in any field with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • A first-level university degree and no experience will be accepted for candidates who have passed the UN Young Professionals Programme Examination or similar exams.
  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, or related areas is required.
  • Experience in video production and broadcast is required.
  • Experience in organizing media and network partners in complex events is required.
  • Experience in production design and creating content is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in event planning is desirable.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Benefits

  • Temporary position with an estimated salary range of $74.5K - $94.3K per year.
