About the position

The Associate Publicist at Bloomsbury Academic plays a crucial role in supporting the publicity team to enhance the visibility of authors and their works. This position involves creating media lists, crafting press materials, and collaborating with various media outlets to promote lead titles effectively. The Associate Publicist will contribute to impactful publicity campaigns aimed at increasing sales and building authors' online presence.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily operations and manage administrative functions of the publicity department
• Support book launches, send out review copies, and contribute to plans for garnering media coverage for authors and books
• Provide general administrative support, including managing print and digital galleys and tracking calls for information
• Assist publicity staff with priority publicity campaigns as needed
• Upload and organize files to Edelweiss and NetGalley
• Research and seek out new media outlets for promotion and coverage of titles
• Assist lead publicists across multiple divisions on media campaigns
• Pitch ideas and strategies during internal strategy calls
• Research media outlets for assigned projects and titles
• Collaborate with key in-house departments to ensure awareness of publicity campaigns

Requirements

• Two years of publicity, marketing, or publishing experience
• Exceptional organization and communication skills
• Ability to write impactful copy, such as pitch letters and press releases
• Effective presentation skills in both internal and external situations
• Adaptability and ability to learn and use new systems, like Microsoft Office and Biblio
