About the position

The Associate Publicist at Random House Children's Books will independently execute publicity campaigns for various children's and YA titles, assist with daily operations, and collaborate on media and event campaigns. This hybrid role requires in-office presence in New York City for tasks such as executing mailings and attending author events, approximately two days a week.

Responsibilities

• Independently coordinates publicity campaigns for assigned titles, including drafting galley letters, press releases, and media lists.
• Pitches TV, radio, print, and online outlets for coverage.
• Coordinates author tour schedules, book signings, and other events.
• Provides general administrative support to the department, including pitching book festivals and compiling seasonal media meeting decks.
• Assists senior publicity staff with priority publicity campaigns.
• Researches and seeks out new media outlets for promotion and coverage of titles.
• Interacts closely with Marketing, Sales, and Editorial teams, and communicates with authors, illustrators, and media outlets.

Requirements

• At least 1-2 years of experience in book publishing or PR/Publicity, preferably in children's book publicity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
