About the position

The Associate Publicist at Random House Children's Books will independently execute publicity campaigns for various children's and young adult titles. This role involves assisting in daily operations and collaborating with the publicity team on media and event campaigns. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently coordinate publicity campaigns for assigned titles under supervision.
• Draft galley letters, press releases, and media lists.
• Pitch TV, radio, print, and online outlets for coverage.
• Coordinate author tour schedules, book signings, and other events.
• Provide general administrative support to the department, including pitching book festivals and compiling seasonal media meeting decks.
• Assist senior publicity staff with priority publicity campaigns.
• Research and seek out new media outlets for promotion and coverage of titles.
• Interact closely with Marketing, Sales, and Editorial teams, and communicate with authors, illustrators, and media outlets.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience in book publishing or PR/Publicity, preferably in children's book publicity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
