About the position

The Associate Research Administrator plays a crucial role in supporting the Sponsored Project and Research Catalyst's (SPARC) research programs at Northwestern University. This position involves providing administrative assistance, problem-solving, and cross-team support for grant-related activities. The role is hybrid, allowing for both on-campus and remote work, and focuses on the preparation and submission of research proposals, grants, and contracts, as well as managing pre-award and post-award administration.

Responsibilities

  • Administer multiple research projects including single and multi-PI proposals, grants, and contracts.
  • Manage pre-award administration of grants and contracts, resolving issues with OSR and sponsors.
  • Coordinate large-scale proposals and agreements, including IRB and IACUC protocols.
  • Complete post-award administration, including reviewing expenditures and managing effort commitments.
  • Serve as a liaison between departments and various regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee the unit's sponsored project portfolio and provide financial insights for budgeting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 2 years of financial or administrative support experience, with at least 1 year in a research environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
