About the position

Pearson is offering an 8-week internship in the summer of 2024 for two doctoral students with outstanding psychometric skills who wish to gain experience in large-scale educational assessment. This internship will provide hands-on experience working with operational K-12 assessments, allowing interns to engage in various aspects of assessment development, item analysis, standard setting, and technical reporting. Interns will work closely with a team of Pearson research scientists, gaining applied experience on many of the tasks involved in supporting an operational K-12 assessment contract. This opportunity will enhance their understanding of how to collaborate and communicate effectively about educational measurement. The internship is designed to immerse interns in the practical applications of psychometrics within the context of educational assessments. Interns will be expected to contribute to ongoing projects, participate in discussions about assessment strategies, and develop skills that are essential for a career in educational measurement. Responsibilities

  • Assist in various aspects of assessment development for K-12 assessments.

  • Collaborate with research scientists on ongoing projects and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a doctoral program in educational measurement, educational statistics, educational psychology, or a similar program.
  • Completion of at least two years of doctoral-level coursework prior to the summer of 2023.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
