About the position

The Associate Researcher position in Dr. Blanchard's Lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai focuses on a NASA-funded project aimed at investigating mechanisms underlying Alzheimer's disease and neurodegeneration. The role involves creating iPSCs-derived vasculature and 3D models of the human brain, with responsibilities including culturing cell lines, conducting experiments, and analyzing data. Responsibilities

  • Culturing cell lines and maintaining an inventory of stem cell reagents and stock chemicals.
  • Preparing specialized culturing surfaces and maintaining a well-organized inventory of cell lines stored in liquid nitrogen.
  • Designing, performing, and maintaining experiments related to the project.
  • Conducting microscopic analysis and analyzing data from experiments.
  • Collaborating closely with lab members and working under the supervision of the lab director and post-docs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science or a related field preferred, or a combination of relevant research experience and education.
  • 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, or developmental/stem cell biology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in iPSC cell culture and differentiation.
  • Familiarity with CRISPR, bioengineering, and confocal microscopy.
  • Knowledge of calcium imaging and optogenetics.
  • Experience with mouse models and computational biology, including single cell/nuclei RNAseq.

Benefits
