About the position

The Family Medicine Residency Associate Program Director (APD) at Dominican Hospital plays a crucial role in the leadership of the Family Medicine Residency Program. This position involves assisting the Program Director in overseeing the program's operations, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, and enhancing the educational experience of residents through direct supervision, mentoring, and curriculum development. The APD is integral to the program's success and works closely with various stakeholders to achieve its objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Family Medicine Residency Program Director in leading and overseeing the Family Medicine Residency Program.
  • Supervise, mentor, and teach residents in patient care.
  • Participate in academic societies and educational programs to enhance skills.
  • Oversee curricular areas and develop innovative curriculum with the Program Director.
  • Serve as a member of the Graduate Medical Education Sub-Committee.
  • Lead the Program Evaluation Committee to set priorities and areas for improvement.
  • Participate in resident evaluation processes and assist in developing individualized learning plans.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director in program development and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and ACGME requirements.
  • Assist in preparing resident rotation schedules and recruitment processes.
  • Coordinate the faculty development program and participate in resident education.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
  • Valid and unrestricted medical license from the State of California.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number.
  • Certification with the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience providing patient care in an underserved area.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
