About the position

The Associate Safety Engineer (ASE) position at Cal/OSHA involves performing professional safety engineering work related to the CAL/OSHA program and process safety management standards. The role is crucial for ensuring the health and safety of employees in various facilities, including chemical plants and ammonia-refrigeration units. The ASE will conduct safety inspections, accident investigations, and consultations, adhering to established policies and procedures to promote workplace safety across California.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Program Quality Verification (PQV) safety inspections at various facilities.
  • Perform accident investigations and consultations related to occupational safety and health.
  • Execute journey-level assignments, including complex safety engineering tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with California Code of Regulations and DIR-DOSH policies.
  • Collaborate with team members to promote safety and health standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in safety engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in safety engineering and industrial hygiene, particularly in process safety management.
  • Knowledge of California safety and health laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in conducting safety inspections and accident investigations.
  • Familiarity with Cal/OSHA programs and policies.
