The Associate Sales Manager/National Account Manager for Children's Mass Merchandise at Penguin Random House is responsible for managing sales and business relationships with major retailers such as Target, Walmart, and Readerlink. This role involves overseeing the sales, marketing, and merchandising of children's book titles, analyzing sales reports, and maintaining communication with retail and distributor teams to optimize inventory and identify growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the sales, marketing, and merchandising of all Random House Children's Books client titles to Target, Walmart, and Readerlink.
• Running and analyzing daily, weekly, monthly sales reports to manage account inventory levels and identify opportunities for growth.
• Remaining up to date on Random House Children's Books client titles, authors, industry-related trends, and competitors.
• Attending and participating in client sales conferences.
• Participating in account business reviews.
• Traveling to the account's office seasonally for sell-in calls.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of sales experience; Minimum of 5 years sales experience to be considered at the Manager level.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure, follow up as needed, and meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
• Proactive and able to problem solve.
• Ability to adapt within a rapidly evolving environment.
• Must be self-motivated, but with the ability and willingness to work in a team environment.
• Ability to travel domestically via train, plane, as needed for in-person account presentations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
