About The Position

The Associate Scientist in Analytical Development will conduct research to support the development of tissue-engineered lungs, focusing on evaluating the health and function of engineered lung tissue, particularly the vascular endothelium. This role involves performing bioanalytical assays, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize cellular function in engineered tissues. The position requires a strong background in biology and experience with various laboratory techniques and data analysis software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in biology, molecular biology, cell & molecular biology, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or 3+ years with a Master's Degree, or 1+ years with a PhD.
  • 4+ years of experience performing bioanalytical assays (flow cytometry, ELISA, qPCR).
  • 1+ year of experience with data analysis software (FCS Express, FlowJo, Graphpad Prism, FIJI).
  • Ability to independently follow experimental methods and protocols.
  • Proficient with laboratory instrumentation and data analysis software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and proficient with MS Office suite.
  • Ability to collaborate with others in teams and cross-functionally.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree or PhD in biology, molecular biology, cell & molecular biology, or a related discipline.
  • 1+ years of relevant industry experience in the development of biologics for therapeutics.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to support the development of tissue-engineered lungs.
  • Evaluate the health and function of engineered lung tissue with a focus on vascular endothelial cell behavior.
  • Perform bioanalytical assays to characterize cellular behavior and engineered lung function.
  • Analyze and interpret results, making insightful recommendations.
  • Analyze single cell RNA sequencing or spatial transcriptomics data.
  • Develop and optimize mono and co-culture cell-based assays.
  • Participate in cross-team collaborations to support the characterization of primary lung cell types.
  • Evaluate circulating molecules to establish metrics of engineered tissue health.
  • Conduct independent literature reviews and propose experimental plans.
  • Execute laboratory experiments with attention to detail and strong record-keeping.
  • Analyze data and compile summary reports with key outcomes.
  • Prepare presentations and discuss data with laboratory staff and external partners.
  • Contribute to the writing and review of scientific communications.
  • Demonstrate responsible use of inventory supplies.
