About the position

The Associate Scientist II position at Abbott involves participating in research and development activities within the Diagnostics business. The role focuses on executing preclinical scientific research, conducting experiments, and collaborating with team members to drive innovation in diagnostic tools and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the execution of pre-defined/standard experiments and technical research with direction.
  • Review experiment protocols and exercise technical discretion in their interpretation; obtain feedback for execution.
  • Summarize data within testing protocols and perform a variety of laboratory procedures using standard techniques.
  • Identify out of specification events and troubleshoot instrumentation or experiments; assist in resolving basic technical problems.
  • Participate in routine maintenance and lab safety protocols.
  • Write verification and validation protocols and reports with guidance; document development work and assist in writing technical reports.
  • Implement and maintain the effectiveness of the quality system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in life or physical science with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience or a Master's degree.
  • Awareness of experimental approaches/protocols and scientific methods such as designing experiments and interpreting data.
  • Awareness of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry or Biology.
  • 1 year of experience with Abbott products such as Alinity or Architect.
  • Experience with PEAR, EDMS, or similar Data Management Systems.
