About the position

The Associate Scientist in Research and Development at Abbott Laboratories will engage in scientific and technical activities to support the development of new immunoassays on the Alinity i and ARCHITECT systems. This role involves conducting experiments, troubleshooting instrumentation, and ensuring compliance with quality systems, all while contributing to the advancement of product development processes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct experiments and summarize data to meet established milestones.
• Recommend options for further experiments and implement plans with oversight.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation or experiments and assist with technical problems.
• Participate in planning project tasks and provide input to accomplish assigned tasks.
• Engage in routine maintenance and ensure lab safety protocols are followed.
• Document experimental procedures and results according to established guidelines.
• Implement and maintain the effectiveness of the quality system.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in biological, physical sciences, or mathematics with 1 - 2 years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of analytical instruments as assigned by supervisor.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree preferred.
• Relevant experience from a medical diagnostics company or similar.
• Experience performing immunoassays.
• Experience with Alinity or ARCHITECT instruments.
• Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.
