About the position

The Associate Service Account Manager at UnitedHealthcare is responsible for overseeing the operations of the University Student Health Insurance Plan. This role serves as a liaison between students, their dependents, and university administration, ensuring effective communication and support regarding insurance coverage. The position involves administrative leadership, customer service, and analytical responsibilities to enhance the student health care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the University Bursar, Registrar, IT Services, and Web Services departments to ensure smooth processes throughout the insurance plan year.
  • Coordinates the administrative aspects of a competitive bid process for USHIP and optional insurance plans.
  • Maintains the University Student Health Insurance Administration Tool, tracking students' annual enrollment and waivers into/out of USHIP.
  • Interfaces effectively with all University customers (students, dependents, administrators, and Student Health Center staff) to present the University's position on all topics.
  • Functions as a day-to-day liaison between all entities, providing walk-in and telephonic customer service support.
  • Assists in the resolution of insured and/or provider billing issues.
  • Educates students regarding current plan design, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinates and attends on-campus service-related functions/meetings, including orientations, health fairs, and in-service information sessions.
  • Interfaces with internal and external partners to provide exceptional customer service to University students and administration.
  • Learns and demonstrates knowledge of all phases of claims processing, including enrollment management, the appeal process, and contract interpretation of plan benefits and policy provisions.
  • Assists with the enrollment/waiver process, researching eligibility issues but not approving or denying waivers.
  • Assists in the development and distribution of communications material related to the student health insurance plan.
  • Performs any other duties required by the University to assist with the student health insurance plan.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 2+ years of medical insurance experience
  • Familiarity with computer and Windows PC applications
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to work any 8-hour shift schedule during normal business hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST from Monday - Friday.
