About the position

The Associate Social Media Producer at Voto Latino will play a crucial role in shaping the organization's online presence and engagement with the Latino community, particularly focusing on youth culture and civic engagement. This position requires a creative individual who is not only passionate about social justice and Latinidad but also possesses the skills to produce compelling content across various social media platforms. The ideal candidate will be adept at creating Instagram Reels and TikTok videos, ensuring that the content resonates with a young Latino audience. The role involves daily management of Voto Latino's social media channels, where the producer will pitch and create both written and visual content that aligns with the organization's engagement goals. In addition to content creation, the Associate Social Media Producer will be responsible for scripting, shooting, and editing videos, as well as conducting research on relevant news stories to ensure accuracy and relevance. Staying ahead of social media trends is essential, as is the ability to analyze content performance metrics to refine strategies. The producer will assist the social media director in planning and executing major campaigns and events, contributing to the overall mission of Voto Latino to engage and empower the Latino community through digital platforms. The position may require travel at least once per quarter, and the candidate should be prepared to perform other duties as assigned to support the team effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Pitch and create daily written and visual content for VL's social media channels
  • Script, shoot, and edit videos for our IG/TikTok
  • Be comfortable on-camera
  • Conduct research on news stories and fact-check information
  • Stay ahead of social media trends (on FB, Twitter, IG, and TikTok)
  • Ensure all social content aligns with VL audience engagement goals
  • Analyze content performance metrics and help adjust strategy accordingly
  • Assist the social media director in planning and executing on social media plans for major VL campaigns and events
  • Travel as needed, at least once per quarter
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience producing social media content across major platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, bilingual in Spanish is a big plus
  • Excellent research and fact checking skills
  • Basic iPhone camera shooting and editing skills
  • Ability to simplify complicated subjects into digestible content
  • Experience monitoring social channels for content opportunities and trends
  • Ability to collaborate with other team members to integrate messaging across communications platforms
  • Demonstrated commitment to, and awareness of Latino civil rights and/or issues of social justice
  • Familiarity with politics
  • Experience with Social Sprout or other analytics software
  • Some Adobe Photoshop and Premiere experience; Illustrator and After Effects preferred, but not required
  • Willingness to learn and adapt

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator and After Effects
  • Familiarity with Latino civil rights issues
  • Experience in political content creation
