About the position

The Associate - Software and Data Engineer role at BlackRock focuses on supporting Voting Operations and Analytics for the Investment Stewardship team. The position involves enhancing data operations, automating processes, and conducting quantitative research to connect sustainability-related investment convictions to key performance indicators (KPIs). The role requires a strong attention to detail and a passion for data infrastructure, with opportunities to impact client reporting and corporate governance workflows.

Responsibilities

• Support voting operations and client reporting
• Develop expertise in third party ISS Proxy Exchange platform and its integration with Aladdin and other external parties
• Collaborate with analytical functions across BlackRock Solutions, the Aladdin Product Group, and Risk and Quantitative Analysis to maintain and build solutions
• Automate manual processes to enhance client reporting and connect stewardship activities to third party data
• Leverage automation expertise to improve voting controls and analyst efficiency
• Assist with ad-hoc requests for clients, voting analysts, and corporate communications
• Ensure integrity of the BIS data environment
• Oversee and maintain quality control of proprietary data sets
• Build systematic alerts to ensure integrity of BIS processes

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in data engineering or quantitative research
• Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree (Masters) in a technical field (Computer Science, Statistics) is a plus
• Working knowledge and experience with relational databases and Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase SQL, or other scripting and programming languages (e.g., R, Python, C#)
• Experience with ESG data, corporate reference data, proxy voting, or corporate governance topics is a plus
