About the position

The Associate Software Developer position at Parsons is designed for junior software engineers looking to contribute to critical mission applications within the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community. This role involves working in an Agile team environment, collaborating with experienced software engineers to develop innovative software solutions that address national security and defense challenges. The position emphasizes a commitment to learning and adapting in a fast-paced setting, making it ideal for those at the early stages of their software development careers.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with software engineers and other engineering disciplines to develop software applications.
  • Support the development of critical mission applications within the Strategic National Solutions Directorate.
  • Participate in Agile team activities and contribute to the software development lifecycle.
  • Utilize Source Code Management tools for version control and collaboration.
  • Engage in continuous learning of new tools and concepts relevant to software development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an engineering field, or relevant experience in place of a degree.
  • Understanding of object-oriented software design and development techniques.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycles.
  • Familiarity with web services and/or software programming interfaces (APIs).
  • Experience with Source Code Management (SCM) tools such as Subversion, Maven, or Git.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both spoken and written in English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible environment and take initiative to learn quickly.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS//SCI security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with programming and scripting languages such as Java, Python, C++, C, DOS, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment using Scrum methodology.
  • Working knowledge of AI and implementation of ML models.
  • Understanding of relational databases and SQL.
  • Experience with Jenkins, Spring Boot, Kafka, Kubernetes, or Docker.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps concepts and CI/CD pipeline technologies.
  • Experience developing and deploying software in AWS cloud environments.
  • Security+ Certification.
