About the position

The Associate, Software Engineer, Applications role at BlackRock involves analyzing the client and investment management lifecycle to design effective software solutions. The position supports all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, application design, system development, testing, implementation, and production support. The role emphasizes the creation of technical design documents, ensuring software resilience, and driving the creation of technical test plans to maintain code quality.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the client and investment management lifecycle to design software solutions.
  • Support all phases of the software development lifecycle including requirements gathering, application design, system development, testing, implementation, and production support.
  • Create technical design documents to describe planned solutions and dependencies.
  • Leverage and learn core technologies designed in-house to scale solutions.
  • Ensure software service resilience and recovery time objectives are met.
  • Drive the creation of technical test plans and leverage automated testing environments to ensure code quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 24 months of experience in a related role such as Analyst or Software Engineer.
  • Experience using SQL and corresponding tools to query data.
  • Programming experience with Sybase, Java, Python, Cassandra, Spring, Hibernate, JUnit, and UNIX.
  • Familiarity with multi-threading and methodologies including test-driven development and object-oriented design.
  • Utilization of Agile development methodologies.
