About the position

The Associate Sports Director at the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas plays a crucial role in promoting healthy kids, families, and communities through youth sports programs. This position focuses on family involvement, healthy competition, and individual development, aiming to make a positive impact in the lives of children in the community. The Associate Sports Director will work under the supervision of the Regional Sports Director to ensure the effective administration of various sports programs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the effective administration of sports programs at the Richardson YMCA.
  • Promote healthy competition and participation in youth sports.
  • Encourage family involvement in sports activities.
  • Ensure a positive self-image and mutual respect among participants.
  • Assist in managing facilities, equipment, and programs.

Requirements

  • Good interpersonal skills and a cordial manner.
  • Experience in Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of soccer, baseball, basketball, football, volleyball, and other sports.
  • Basic understanding of facility and program management.
  • Current driver's license with an acceptable record and vehicle liability insurance.
  • Ability to drive to multiple locations as needed on practice nights and game days.
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Physically able to move freely throughout the facility and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently.
  • Visual, hearing, and physical dexterity to substitute as a sports referee.
  • Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
