About the position

Our client, a venture capital and growth equity firm, is seeking a Technical Accounting & Valuation Associate, Senior Associate, or Manager to join their team in Menlo Park, CA. This position is hybrid, requiring three days in the office (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday). Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing accounting support for various venture capital and growth equity funds. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including technical accounting analysis, valuation work, performing the month-end close process, generating reports, compliance work, conducting specialized research projects, and responding to inquiries as required. The job title will be determined based on the candidate's experience. The role requires a strong work ethic and initiative, as well as the ability to multi-task and balance priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. The candidate must possess good analytical and problem-solving skills, exceptional integrity, and strong written and verbal communication abilities. Prior valuation experience is a plus, and the candidate should be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Responsibilities

  • Analyze, determine and document the appropriate accounting method for certain investment transactions
  • Review cap tables from portfolio companies and understand the implications of articles/charters
  • Assist in evaluating the potential impact of investment transactions on financial reporting
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate the audit process and address any audit findings
  • Work on quarterly valuation of investments and investment fair value audits as needed
  • Work on technical accounting analysis relating to investment transactions
  • Assist in tracking portfolio company holdings from cap tables and financial highlights
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports
  • Assist with both internal and external reporting requirements including internal investment level tracking and external LP reporting
  • Assist in regulatory reporting as needed
  • Prepare and develop management and ad hoc reports and analyses as needed
  • Provide assistance with special accounting projects as required

Requirements

  • 4+ years industry experience preferred
  • Public Accounting experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree with concentration in accounting or finance
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office applications with a heavy focus on Excel
  • CPA preferred
