About The Position
The Associate, Strategic Initiatives position at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is designed to support the identification and execution of strategies that enhance efficiency, service quality, and overall performance across the MTA family. This role is critical in achieving the MTA's targets for recurring savings, which are fundamental to the MTA's Financial Plan. The Associate will engage in various activities including data collection and analysis, field observation, research, and modeling. The outcomes of these analyses will facilitate the design of strategies and programs aimed at optimizing decision-making, resource allocation, and improving efficiency through revised business practices within the MTA. In this role, the Associate will conduct financial analyses and business process reviews that support high-profile initiatives for MTA executive leadership. These initiatives are geared towards improving the MTA's economic efficiency and service quality. The Associate will also support interdepartmental and interagency working groups to execute projects that are essential for reshaping the MTA into a more innovative and cost-effective agency. Notable projects may include the OMNY as Mobility as a Service Platform project, which involves significant quantitative and process design components. The Associate will primarily focus on the quantitative and analytical aspects of each project, conducting research and project management to inform critical decisions that impact the MTA's cost structure and productivity. The position requires excellent quantitative, analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills, along with proficiency in Excel modeling. Strong communication skills are essential, as the Associate will need to convey complex quantitative concepts clearly to internal stakeholders. The ability to work collaboratively in team settings, prioritize competing needs, and manage multiple projects simultaneously is also crucial for success in this role.
