About The Position

The Associate Structural Engineer position offers an opportunity to apply and expand your knowledge in Structural Engineering within a professional setting. The role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team on the design of new nuclear facilities and modifications to existing plants. Responsibilities include performing structural analysis and design, preparing design calculations, and supporting the development of technical drawings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 1+ years of applicable experience, or a Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a strong academic background in structural engineering.
  • Knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer in Training.
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers and designers on various projects related to nuclear facilities.
  • Prepare design calculations and develop specifications for structural components.
  • Support designers in the development of technical drawings.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations.
  • Conduct structural analyses considering loading conditions such as wind and seismic effects.
  • Receive training and mentorship from experienced structural design engineers.
  • Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and site locations for construction coordination.
