The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Associate Systems Administrator, Information Technology, (HYBRID ELIGIBLE) [R0144867]. This position reports to the Senior 2 Systems Administrator/Supervisor overseeing the Professional Services team and provides full-time systems administration services in the Systems Engineering (SE) group of the Office of Information Technology. The incumbent builds and deploys systems under the supervision and direction of SE staff members. System administration includes tasks such as operating systems and application version upgrades, application of patches, performance tuning, troubleshooting hardware and software, hardware maintenance and growth projections, backup, recovery, security and engineering and administration of enterprise and departmental storage services. The Associate Systems Administrator plays a critical role in supporting student success by ensuring the seamless operation and accessibility of critical IT services that directly enhance the learning experience. This position manages and maintains the virtual desktop and application environment, enabling students to access virtual labs and specialized software essential for their coursework. By providing robust file services, web servers, and development environments, the Associate Systems Administrator supports faculty in delivering course materials, facilitating student collaboration, and creating hands-on learning opportunities in web and software development. Additionally, this role contributes to student data analysis initiatives, online education platforms, and the university mobile app, further enriching the student experience and promoting academic achievement. Through dedicated support for computer lab services like printing and file sharing, the Associate Systems Administrator ensures that students have the necessary tools and resources to thrive in their academic pursuits.
