About the position

The Associate Systems Administrator, Linux is responsible for managing and supporting Visa's Endpoint Systems, ensuring high availability and performance of systems that connect clients to core services. This role involves technical support, change execution, problem and incident management, and collaboration with various teams to enhance system reliability and reduce service impacts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice and support to Visa's Client institutions and processors to exceed customer expectations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and reporting of issues and changes, ensuring timely updates to Global Inventory records.
  • Create and test implementation Linux scripts for vendor's field engineers and support teams for installation and activation.
  • Perform remote system installation with on-site vendor engineer support, including configuration and lockdown of Visa Endpoint servers.
  • Work proactively with Global Support groups and/or clients or vendors to provide flexible solutions for client issues and resolve system problems quickly.
  • Timely escalation of critical situations and project risks to the Manager and 3rd Level support team.
  • Ensure all server deployments comply with Visa security guidelines and report any non-compliance.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with a global team across different cultures and time zones.
  • Work closely with IMAC and Project teams to ensure best-in-class delivery of solutions and support to Visa clients.
  • Ensure all incidents and changes comply with ITIL and operational policies.
  • Ensure all servers going into production are locked down and meet operational acceptance criteria.
  • Diagnose problems efficiently by running and reviewing application and network traces.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • 2 or more years of work experience in IT Operations and Project Delivery.
  • 1 year experience in Linux System Administration or relevant certifications.
  • Ability to perform problem isolation and resolution of critical systems with minimal downtime.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and dedication to the customer service experience.
  • Result-oriented with a focus on improving efficiency and productivity.
  • Project coordination and planning experience.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to assess and analyze technical situations and provide viable alternatives.
  • Self-starter with a keen interest in learning new skills and technologies.
  • Basic programming/scripting knowledge in Bash, Python, or Perl.
