About the position

The Associate Teaching Professor in Devised Performance at Rowan University's Department of Theatre and Dance is a full-time, non-tenure track position focused on teaching graduate-level courses in Devised Performance. The role emphasizes innovative pedagogy and aims to prepare students to become future leaders in theater practice and creation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Devised Performance pedagogy and a commitment to supporting historically underrepresented and underserved students.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the MFA and Certificate in Devised Performance.
  • Deliver a total of 24 credits over two semesters, with options for overload and summer classes.
  • Provide critical feedback for original creations and lead courses in improvisation and movement.
  • Collaborate with students and faculty to enhance the curriculum and support diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Significant professional theatre experience, specifically in devised performance.
  • Strong background in teaching with a focus on graduate education.
  • Experience teaching Lecoq pedagogy and leading courses in improvisation, movement, and ensemble building.
  • A Bachelor's Degree and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in theatre.
  • A minimum of nine years of experience in teaching devised performance at the graduate level.
