About the position
The Associate Underwriter at Burns & Wilcox Environmental Center of Excellence (COE) is responsible for building agent relationships and expanding knowledge in the insurance industry, particularly in environmental exposures. This role involves utilizing cutting-edge technology to deliver high-quality service, managing relationships with retail agents, and developing creative solutions for risk placement and program business development.
Responsibilities
- Build agent relationships, find sources of business, and be creative in placing risks and product opportunities
- Seek opportunities to access new insurance markets and products
- Play a producer role in the dynamic growth of a highly successful and consistently profitable company
- Use cutting-edge technology to deliver high quality service to agents and agencies
- Partner with a service-oriented corporate headquarters staff
- Define and monitor successful sales and marketing strategies in cooperation with senior management
- Be technologically savvy and data driven and develop those capabilities in the branch office team
- Supervise execution of company underwriting guidelines, corporate policy and procedures, and compliance with contract terms
- Manage relationships with retail agents and branch underwriter/broker producers
- Drive consistency and quality in operational processes
- Find and cultivate brokerage markets
- Find and build agent relationships to promote business growth
- Be creative in developing solutions for individual risk placement as well as program business development
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the insurance industry
- Insurance license preferred
