About the position

The Associate Veterinarian at Milwaukie Animal Clinic is responsible for providing high-quality veterinary care and exceptional client service while working collaboratively with a dedicated team. This role emphasizes mentorship for new graduates, ensuring a supportive environment that fosters professional development. The Associate Veterinarian will practice progressive veterinary medicine in a small animal clinic setting, maintaining the highest standards of care and compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent, high-quality care and exceptional service to maintain a positive hospital environment.
  • Adhere to all WellHaven protocols and practices and oversee employees to prioritize practice goals.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Doctor to establish development plans that align with hospital objectives.
  • Practice veterinary medicine in compliance with the State Veterinary Practice Act and maintain appropriate medical record documentation.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate medical charting for all patients, consistently meeting hospital quality control standards.
  • Provide comprehensive client communication, including in-person, phone, and email as needed.
  • Participate in community events, external marketing initiatives, and hospital projects.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and current medical practices.
  • Advocate for exceptional client service and patient well-being.
  • Provide medical training to support staff and lead/manage support staff as required.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
  • State Veterinary Board License in good standing on the first day of employment.
  • Current USDA Accreditation is a plus.
  • Experience in veterinary medicine, particularly in anesthesia and surgery.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with EMR and scheduling software.
  • Marketing skills to support community engagement and hospital projects.
