About the position

The Associate Veterinarian at Vancouver Veterinary Hospital is responsible for providing high-quality veterinary care and exceptional client service. This role involves collaborating with the Principal Doctor and Practice Manager to ensure the well-being of the hospital environment and the productivity of the veterinary medical team. The position is ideal for both new graduates and experienced veterinarians looking to expand their skills in a supportive and team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent, high-quality care and exceptional service to maintain a positive hospital environment.
  • Adhere to all WellHaven protocols and practices and oversee employees to prioritize practice goals.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Doctor to establish development plans that align with hospital objectives.
  • Practice veterinary medicine in compliance with the State Veterinary Practice Act and maintain appropriate medical record documentation.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate medical charting for all patients, consistently meeting hospital quality control standards.
  • Provide comprehensive client communication, including in-person, phone, and email as needed.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and current medical practices.
  • Advocate for exceptional client service and patient well-being.
  • Provide medical training to support staff and guide the team to ensure the hospital meets safety standards.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
  • State Veterinary Board License in good standing.
  • Experience in veterinary medicine, including anesthesiology and surgery.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to individual client needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current USDA Accreditation is a plus.
  • Experience in emergency care and internal medicine.
