About the position

The Senior Advisor to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) plays a crucial role in providing oversight, direction, and leadership for various service areas within the university. This position is responsible for ensuring that the educational, research, and patient care missions of the university are executed effectively and efficiently. The advisor will work closely with the CAO on strategic planning, project leadership, and communication, while also managing day-to-day operations of the CAO's office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic and long-term planning initiatives and goals for the CAO.
  • Lead the implementation of business strategies that advance the university's mission.
  • Serve as the chief advisor to the CAO, providing necessary information and reports.
  • Coordinate activities related to Campus Services, HR, IT, and other operational areas.
  • Manage high-priority projects to achieve the university's mission and strategic vision.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with internal and external constituents.
  • Communicate vision and decisions to the CAO's executive team and facilitate feedback.
  • Develop presentations and prepare remarks for the CAO.
  • Support strategic communications for the CAO.
  • Lead and implement strategic process improvements and operational change management.
  • Analyze data for gaps and improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and review the CAO's administration departments for policy and fiscal operations.
  • Oversee budgetary impacts and assist with budget development activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or Master's degree with eight years of leadership experience.
  • Previous Chief of Staff experience.
  • Experience in higher education or similar complex enterprises.
  • Knowledge in administrative services, campus services, HR, or IT.
