About the position

The Associate Vice President for Academics at Northwest State Community College plays a crucial role in supporting the Vice President for Academics and providing leadership across various academic areas. This position oversees the Center for Teaching & Learning, Library, Accreditation, and Distance Learning, ensuring effective administration and support for faculty, students, and academic programs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, launch, and oversee the Center for Teaching & Learning.
  • Assist with the grant funding process.
  • Develop and oversee committees associated with the Center for Teaching & Learning.
  • Support and drive initiatives created by the Center for Teaching & Learning.
  • Provide leadership and academic support to Library, Accreditation, Distance Learning, and the Center for Teaching and Learning.
  • Manage day-to-day operational and administrative tasks in all academic areas, including FLAC, load sheets, and payroll.
  • Oversee reporting tasks such as Efficiency Report, Program Review Completion, and Assessment.
  • Manage all Accreditation and Compliance efforts.
  • Assist in the development of academic budgets and provide oversight for budgets in all academic areas.
  • Ensure assessment of the academic curriculum and assist in the program review process.
  • Oversee the Academic grievance procedure and respond to student and faculty issues as appropriate.
  • Lead, coordinate, and participate in college, division, committee activities and governance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related discipline required; an earned doctorate preferred.
  • Three years of academic administrative experience in higher education required.
  • Three years teaching experience at the college level preferred.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of Community College Academics, program review assessment, and accreditation.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in an administrative capacity.
  • Expertise in managing a research-based and results-driven division.
  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), motivational, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office and Google programs.
  • Good judgment, tact, and ability to foster cooperation and collaboration.
