About the position

The Associate Vice President (AVP) for Institutional Effectiveness at Rhodes College is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive data and analytics strategy to support the institution's strategic vision. This role involves leadership in evidence-based decision-making, continuous improvement initiatives, and compliance with accreditation standards. The AVP will design and maintain a scalable data infrastructure, promote collaboration among data stewards, and oversee the Institutional Research Office to enhance data management and reporting across the college.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement systems to collect, extract, verify, compile, analyze, disseminate, and present reliable data from various sources.
  • Maintain data accuracy and troubleshoot complex data issues, including programming and coding structures.
  • Broaden knowledge of college data and standardize data transformation across campus.
  • Co-Chair the Data Governance Committee to ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Manage the operation of the Institutional Research Office, including day-to-day activities and budgets.
  • Fulfill internal and external data requests from various stakeholders, ensuring compliance with guidelines.
  • Design and build automated analytics tools and self-service dashboards for decision-making.
  • Provide training for faculty and staff on data management and analytics tools.
  • Collaborate with academic leaders to advance assessment and accreditation efforts.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a research-related field such as statistics, social science, or data analytics.
  • Five years of professional experience in higher education research, data management, or data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong presentation abilities.
  • Demonstrated business analysis, systems data modeling, and project management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of data storage methods and technical awareness across multiple systems.
  • Proficient in advanced Microsoft 365 applications and other Office suite products.
  • Experience with advanced analytics tools and techniques, including machine learning and SQL.
  • Knowledge of current higher education issues, particularly challenges facing small liberal arts colleges.
  • Ability to translate findings into actionable recommendations for various stakeholders.
  • Proficient in writing and presenting data-rich reports that are easily understood.
