About the position

The Associate Vice President for University Programs and Strategic Initiatives (AVP-UPSI) at the University of Dubuque is a key leadership role focused on advancing the University's strategic initiatives and enhancing enrollment efforts, particularly in professional studies, online, and adult degree-completion programs. The AVP-UPSI will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of these programs, ensuring they meet the needs of students and align with the institution's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the LIFE program, ensuring quality and effectiveness of all offerings.
  • Direct the expansion of LIFE programs to include synchronous and asynchronous online courses.
  • Streamline general education course offerings for undergraduate LIFE degree programs.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to design effective curriculum and instructional strategies for online and hybrid learning.
  • Oversee the development of a robust academic coaching model for asynchronous online courses.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for professional studies and adult degree-completion programs.
  • Oversee the development of innovative academic programs and enhancements.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the division.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop a high-quality faculty and staff team.
  • Provide leadership for faculty and staff professional development in online teaching and instructional design.
  • Develop comprehensive student support services, including academic advising and tutoring.
  • Monitor student progress and retention rates, implementing targeted interventions as needed.
  • Oversee marketing and recruitment strategies to attract qualified students.
  • Lead the development of data-driven enrollment management strategies.
  • Integrate technology into the delivery of programs and oversee the learning management system.
  • Develop and manage the division's budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners and represent the University at events.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new academic programs addressing market needs.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience in higher education administration, focusing on professional studies, online education, and adult learning.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to build high-performing teams.
  • Experience in developing and implementing innovative academic programs and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of adult learner needs and preferences.
  • Proficiency in using technology and data analytics for decision-making.
