About the position

The Associate Vice President of Global Operations Sourcing at Merck Sharp & Dohme is responsible for managing supplier relationships and executing sourcing strategies across various modalities, including small molecule drug substances, biologics, and vaccines. This senior leadership role involves collaborating with manufacturing divisions and operational units to ensure effective management of in-line products, risk management, and supplier savings. The position also emphasizes talent development, diversity, and continuous improvement within the procurement function.

Responsibilities

• Own supplier relationships and execute sourcing strategy.
• Develop and manage supplier relationship management plans.
• Create and drive supplier savings roadmap.
• Understand and manage risks impacting supply nodes.
• Partner with procurement areas and business partners to ensure requirements are understood and managed effectively.
• Lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) for critical suppliers.
• Define savings pipeline and value opportunities in collaboration with senior leaders.
• Optimize workplace productivity and promote professional growth among employees.
• Ensure alignment with stakeholders outside of global procurement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Science, Procurement, or Manufacturing-related field.
• 5-7 years of experience working with senior/executive leaders.
• Minimum of 15 years' experience in Sourcing, Procurement, Supplier Management, or related operations in a manufacturing environment, preferably in pharmaceuticals or consumer goods.
• Experience in large-scale organizational change initiatives and communication management.
• Solid policy, process, and procedure leadership experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience in the biotech industry and associated best practices.
• Knowledge of supply chain technologies and performance management.
• Advanced capabilities in Sourcing & Supplier Strategies, Cost Optimization, and Supplier Risk Management.
• Sigma Green, Executive Belt - preferred; Black Belt - highly preferred.
