About the position

The Associate Vice President of Workforce Development at the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) is responsible for leading workforce development initiatives, including customized training programs, adult education, and career services. This role involves strategic planning, budget management, and collaboration with various stakeholders to align workforce training with industry needs and institutional goals. The position requires strong leadership skills to supervise teams and ensure compliance with regulations while promoting program growth and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Align workforce and training programs with academic, industry, and public sector needs.
  • Develop effective partnerships with businesses to identify training needs and create customized workforce solutions.
  • Lead course and programmatic design, instructional delivery, and assessment activities.
  • Conduct research and analysis to evaluate the viability of new and existing non-credit programs.
  • Supervise and coach the workforce training, adult education, and transportation education teams.
  • Provide management oversight of noncredit curriculum planning, program development, and implementation.
  • Lead strategic planning for the division and budget development.
  • Identify and secure resources for professional development of faculty and staff.
  • Serve as the liaison to economic and workforce training agencies and employer organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and accrediting requirements.
  • Develop marketing strategies and outreach processes to enhance enrollment and program recognition.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, public administration, or related field.
  • Five years of mid- to senior-level supervisory management and budgeting experience in workforce development programs.
  • Experience in workforce development and training, needs assessment, grant development, and administration.
  • Practical experience in developing and implementing credit and noncredit programs.
  • Commitment to collaborating with faculty on course design.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to equity.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
