Morningstar is seeking an Associate Visual Designer to join our Retirement business, which focuses on providing investment advisory and management solutions to the retirement market. In this role, you will be responsible for developing collateral across various mediums, including print, digital, and live events. Your primary objective will be to create compelling materials that effectively differentiate and promote our unique service offerings to both B2B and B2C audiences. As an Associate Visual Designer, you will collaborate closely with writers, content strategists, marketers, product managers, sales teams, and business owners to develop experiences that resonate with the Morningstar brand. This position is based in our Chicago office, and we follow a hybrid work policy of three days onsite and two days remote. In this role, you will be expected to make informed design decisions regarding typography, space, color, and iconography while utilizing the Morningstar Design System. You will partner with lead and senior designers to create collateral for various projects, including digital web experiences, email campaigns, social media, printed materials, events, and conference exhibits. Your ability to simplify complex information and formulate engaging, user-friendly design concepts will be crucial. You will also apply problem-solving methods to create new marketing and product content while adhering to brand guidelines. Additionally, you will collaborate with product owners, engineers, and UX designers to make informed product decisions. Clear articulation of your design decisions and processes will be essential, as will participation in critiques, workshops, and other design activities. We are looking for someone who is curious, resourceful, and eager to contribute to solving challenging design problems, with strong interpersonal and analytical skills. You should be self-directed, comfortable working independently, and able to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
