About the position

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) is seeking a dedicated and qualified individual for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor and Program Director for the Master of Athletic Training (MAT) program. This full-time, 12-month faculty position is set to commence in August 2024. The MAT program, which is recognized as the #1 Best Athletic Training Program in Texas, is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and is part of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences within the School of Health Professions. The mission of the MAT program is to enrich lives by educating and empowering athletic training students to become confident, competent, and collaborative healthcare professionals who positively impact the patients and communities they serve. The program emphasizes core values of Excellence, Professionalism, Agility, Resilience, and Servant Leadership, which are integral to its operations and educational philosophy. As the Program Director, the successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the MAT program, ensuring compliance with CAATE accreditation standards, managing program planning and review, supervising faculty and staff, and overseeing the program's budget. The role also includes teaching responsibilities within the MAT program and potentially in other programs within the department. The candidate will be expected to advise MAT students, engage in scholarly activities, and contribute to service at the departmental, college, and university levels. Collaboration with faculty from various programs, including the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Doctor of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Science (PhD), is essential to foster an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Program Director for the MAT program.
  • Teach courses in the MAT program and potentially in other programs in the department.
  • Direct all matters related to the MAT program, including maintaining CAATE accreditation, program planning and review, oversight of faculty and staff, and budget management.
  • Advise MAT students.
  • Participate in scholarly activity.
  • Engage in service at the departmental, college, and university levels.
  • Commit to building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.

Requirements

  • Earned doctoral degree in athletic training, sports medicine, or related area.
  • Current Athletic Training credential.
  • Texas state Athletic Training license or eligibility.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of CAATE accreditation professional standards.
  • Previous experience as a program director.
  • Record of teaching experience (didactic, clinical, contemporary expertise in athletic training).
  • Evidence of scholarly agenda and professional development.
