About the position

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking an Assistant Athletic Director for NCAA Compliance to join its Department of Athletics. This full-time position is integral to ensuring that the university's athletic programs adhere to NCAA, ACC, and UNC compliance initiatives. The Assistant Athletic Director will report directly to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and will be responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, and administering compliance initiatives related to all aspects of NCAA regulations. This role is crucial in monitoring compliance rules and regulations that affect current and former student-athletes, prospective student-athletes, and athletics staff, as well as university faculty and staff members. The Department of Athletics at UNC-Chapel Hill is committed to providing educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, fostering an environment where student-athletes can excel both academically and athletically. The Assistant Athletic Director will play a key role in supporting the department's mission to unite alumni, faculty, administration, and students through shared athletic experiences. The position requires a strong understanding of NCAA compliance, as well as the ability to navigate a fast-paced office environment while maintaining attention to detail. In addition to compliance responsibilities, the Assistant Athletic Director will engage in various administrative tasks, including reporting Clery crimes as a designated Campus Security Authority. The ideal candidate will possess a relevant post-baccalaureate degree or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of four to six years of experience in NCAA compliance, preferably within a Division I FBS program. The role may also require working evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary to fulfill the demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, implementing, coordinating, and administering NCAA, ACC, and UNC compliance initiatives.
  • Monitor NCAA, ACC, and UNC rules and regulations associated with current and former student-athletes.
  • Ensure compliance for prospective student-athletes and Department of Athletics staff members.
  • Support university faculty and staff members in compliance-related matters.
  • Report Clery crimes as a designated Campus Security Authority and complete annual training on reporting responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent).
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in NCAA compliance may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum four to six years of experience in NCAA compliance.
  • Experience with NCAA Eligibility Center and LLSDBi.
