About the position

The Assistant Program Director (APD) at The Jewish Board plays a crucial role in overseeing the Adult Residential Division, which supports adults with serious mental illnesses. The APD ensures that programmatic systems are in place to meet clients' safety and service needs, providing clinical and administrative oversight. This position involves supervising staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and facilitating training and support for team members. The APD is also responsible for maintaining a safe living environment for residents and collaborating with various departments to enhance program effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Social Workers, Case Managers, and Case Associates.
  • Review and evaluate comprehensive assessments, progress notes, service plan reviews, and discharge plans for quality and compliance.
  • Work with Residence Managers on staffing/scheduling, reviewing and approving weekly timesheets and overtime.
  • Facilitate High Risk and Group Supervisions.
  • Participate in Case Conferences with external sources.
  • Collaborate with other JB Departments for program needs.
  • Participate in staff evaluations and ensure regulatory compliance with staff training completion.
  • Collaborate with Residence Manager to ensure apartments are safe.
  • Participate in administrative meetings and other scheduled meetings.
  • Participate in Client/tenant meetings and address entitlements issues.
  • Run reports in Tableau and document work in MyAvatar, the Agency's EHR system.
  • Conduct apartment administrative walkthroughs and submit internal reports as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a service delivery team.
  • Travel to apartments within the five boroughs on a weekly basis.

Requirements

  • LCSW, MSW, or other clinical qualification preferred; MPA, MPH, or related degree will be considered.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a relevant field.
  • Prior experience working with adults diagnosed with mental illness, homelessness, and substance abuse history required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent track record as a supervisor, ability to motivate staff, build teams, and retain employees.
  • Ability to understand and appreciate broader issues of politics, funding, and agency reputation while retaining attention to detail.
  • Organized and meticulous with attention to detail.

  • Experience with the operation of housing and supportive housing programs.
  • Technologically competent in handling administrative practices.
