About the position

The Assistant Director of Development for Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of North Florida is responsible for cultivating and soliciting annual fund and major gifts for the Athletics Department. This role involves meeting revenue goals, developing new fundraising sources, and nurturing long-term relationships with donors. The position requires active participation in fundraising events and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance the department's fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Seek, identify, cultivate, and solicit gifts for the Athletics Department.
  • Meet annual revenue and membership goals for the Osprey Club and Athletics' Development.
  • Develop new sources for fundraising and revenue, including increasing annual giving from current donors and future prospects.
  • Identify and qualify new prospects for major gifts and document all activity in the CRM database.
  • Nurture long-term relationships with contributors including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Attend donor events as a representative of the Athletic Department and use those events for cultivation opportunities.
  • Directly manage and execute annual fund and crowdfunding initiatives, including 904 Day and Giving Day.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of fundraising events such as the AD Reception, Golf Classic, Hall of Fame, and Blue & Gray Bash.
  • Assist with Hospitality operations.
  • Create publications and promotional materials for cultivation and solicitation purposes.
  • Attend University Development and Alumni Engagement (UDAE) Staff and PTS meetings and keep the CRM database up to date.
  • Work collaboratively with University Development staff regarding identification, stewardship, and proposal development.
  • Work directly with coaches in support of sport-specific giving and alumni events/communication.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate AD or UDAE Assistant VP related to overall fundraising goals.

Requirements

  • Related experience in fundraising, external sales, community affairs, business development, or marketing.
  • Proven self-starter who can work independently and hold themselves accountable for results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for high visibility internally and externally.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven computer literacy and experience with fundraising software.
  • Experience in Athletics is preferred.
