About the position

The Assistant Director of Operations (ADO) at HMSHost plays a crucial role in supporting the Senior Director of Operations in enhancing branch profitability and operational excellence. This position involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with company standards, and preparing management staff to deliver high-quality service to guests. The ADO is responsible for budget implementation, staff management, and maintaining safety and wellness protocols within the restaurant environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Sr Director Operations in directing daily operations of the location.
• Facilitate the development and implementation of the annual budget.
• Plan, organize, prioritize, and assign business activities effectively.
• Ensure compliance with company/brand standards and safety guidelines.
• Resolve questions and problems, referring complex issues to the Sr Director Operations.
• Ensure managers follow opening, daily, and closing procedures/checklists according to company policies.
• Interview job candidates and make hiring, termination, and promotion decisions.
• Promote HMSHost as an employer of choice within the local community.
• Ensure managers adhere to mandated rest breaks and meal periods.
• Ensure compliance with wellness and safety procedures and guidelines.

Requirements

• 5 years of management experience in a restaurant setting.
• Senior level restaurant experience with documented skills managing various types of restaurants.
• Ability to work shifts during various operating days and hours.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local sanitary, safety, and health standards.

Nice-to-haves

• Graduation from a Food Service Management or Culinary program may substitute for experience requirements.
