About the position

The Assistant General Manager at SpringHill Suites West Melbourne is responsible for assisting in the overall management and operation of the hotel. This role focuses on driving revenue, maximizing profit, and ensuring quality service while managing staff to achieve financial results, guest satisfaction, and positive employee relations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional guest service and respond to guests in a friendly and positive manner.
  • Address guest needs and concerns proactively and effectively.
  • Set a strong example for associates through exemplary guest service.
  • Work with the hotel team to maintain guest satisfaction scores that meet or exceed brand standards.
  • Resolve guest complaints and employee issues.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to meet the needs of negotiated accounts and groups.
  • Communicate client needs to appropriate hotel staff.
  • Perform sales calls and property tours when necessary.
  • Train Guest Service Associates to pass on leads and referrals to the Sales Team.
  • Manage expenses according to budgeted/forecasted guidelines to maximize hotel profitability.
  • Effectively manage labor in assigned departments through appropriate scheduling and payroll monitoring.
  • Adjust expenditures according to fluctuating business needs in a timely manner.
  • Interview, hire, coach, and develop hotel associates in conjunction with the General Manager.
  • Prepare and conduct annual employee reviews in a timely manner.
  • Address performance issues and take corrective action as needed.
  • Motivate hotel staff by setting goals, providing feedback, and recognizing employees.
  • Utilize HR software to manage timesheets and employee changes.
  • Perform functions of the General Manager in their absence.
  • Complete various other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Hotel leadership experience required.
  • Hotel brand experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of guest and employee information.
  • Must have a reliable insured vehicle and a satisfactory driving record.
