About the position

The Assistant Graphic Designer position at Chico's is a vital role that supports the Art Director in the creation and production of marketing assets tailored to meet specific communication and promotional needs across various marketing channels. This position is integral to maintaining the brand's aesthetic and ensuring that all design efforts are impactful, accurate, and aligned with the overall marketing strategy. The Assistant Graphic Designer will work closely with the Creative Director and Art Directors to ensure consistency in design across all platforms, including digital communications, emails, signage, direct mail, and packaging. In this role, the Assistant Graphic Designer will be responsible for developing graphics and layouts under the guidance of the Art Director, managing the image library, and assisting with retouching markups. The position requires a keen understanding of the specifications for each job, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary requirements before final release. The Assistant Graphic Designer must also adhere to production schedules, dedicating the necessary time to meet deadlines, which includes tasks such as scanning, organizing, preparing files for release, and checking proofs and production samples. Collaboration with Copywriters is essential to maintain the relationship of assigned projects to the overall marketing calendar and strategy. Responsibilities

  • Assist in concepts and support in design and production for all channels based on knowledge of the brand aesthetic.
  • Develop graphics and layouts for channels such as DCOMM, emails, signage, direct mail, and packaging under the direction of the Art Director.
  • Confer with Creative Director and Art Directors to ensure consistency across all channels.
  • Manage the image library and assist with retouching markups across all channels.
  • Ensure excitement, impact, and accuracy in all marketing design efforts.
  • Understand spec requirements of each job before set-up and final release.
  • Adhere to demands of production schedule and be aware of release schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Work with Copywriter(s) to maintain the relationships of assigned projects to the overall strategy and marketing calendar.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Graphic Design from an accredited institution or equivalent education/experience.
  • 0-2 years' experience in graphic design.
  • Proficient on Mac in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML and CSS principles.
  • Knowledge of web design and video editing preferred.
