The Assistant Graphic Designer position is designed to assist the Art Director in the concept design and production of marketing assets to meet specific communication or promotional needs across all marketing channels. This role is crucial in developing graphics and layouts for various channels such as DCOMM, emails, signage, direct mail, and packaging under the guidance of the Art Director. The Assistant Graphic Designer will confer with the Creative Director and Art Directors to ensure consistency across all channels, manage the image library, and assist with retouching markups. The successful candidate will ensure excitement, impact, and accuracy in all marketing design efforts, understand the specifications required for each job before setup and final release, and adhere to the demands of the production schedule. They will also be aware of the release schedule and devote the necessary time to meet deadlines, which includes scanning, organizing, preparing files for release, and checking and marking up proofs and production samples. Additionally, the Assistant Graphic Designer will work closely with Copywriters to maintain the relationships of assigned projects to the overall strategy and marketing calendar.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Art Director in the concept design and production of marketing assets.
  • Develop graphics and layouts for channels such as DCOMM, emails, signage, direct mail, and packaging under the direction of the Art Director.
  • Confer with Creative Director and Art Directors to ensure consistency across all channels.
  • Manage the image library and assist with retouching markups across all channels.
  • Ensure excitement, impact, and accuracy in all marketing design efforts.
  • Understand spec requirements of each job before setup and final release.
  • Adhere to demands of the production schedule.
  • Be aware of the release schedule and devote necessary time to meet deadlines.
  • Work with Copywriter(s) to maintain the relationships of assigned projects to the overall strategy and marketing calendar.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Graphic Design from an accredited institution or equivalent education/experience.
  • 0-2 years' experience in graphic design.
  • Proficient on Mac in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML and CSS principles.
  • Knowledge of web design and video editing preferred.
