About the position

The University of Wyoming is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Sensory Biology within the Department of Zoology and Physiology. This position focuses on mechanistic studies of sensory systems, addressing fundamental and translational questions related to sensory perception and processing. The successful candidate will develop a robust research program, contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations, and engage in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong, extramurally funded research program in Sensory Biology.
  • Participate in the interdisciplinary research team associated with the Wyoming Sensory Biology Center (WSBC).
  • Contribute to the teaching missions of the Physiology and Biology degrees.
  • Develop new undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in the candidate's area of expertise.
  • Engage in service activities at departmental, college, and university levels.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree and postdoctoral experience in neuroscience, biomedical sciences, physiology, or a related field.
  • Evidence of an exceptional research record.
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and formal presentation skills.
  • High potential for an extramurally funded research program.
  • Demonstrated capacity for effective teamwork and collaboration.
  • Experience utilizing vertebrate animal models in sensory biology research.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multiple publications as a main contributing author in Sensory Biology in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Demonstrated history of quality work and innovation.
  • Evidence of competency in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
  • Experience running a multidisciplinary biomedical research team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to training students.
