About the position

Cherry Bekaert, one of the largest accounting and consulting firms in the United States, is seeking an Assurance Chief of Staff to join our Assurance service line leadership team. This role is pivotal in providing strategic support and guidance to key projects and initiatives within the service line. The Assurance Chief of Staff will oversee the operations of the service line, ensuring that all activities align with the business goals and objectives of the firm. This position requires a strong focus on facilitating cross-functional collaboration and communication among various stakeholders, including clients, partners, and vendors. In this role, you will work closely with the Assurance Managing Partner and other senior leaders to plan, execute, and monitor the progress of the service line's activities. You will act as a liaison between the service line and other internal and external stakeholders, helping to identify and resolve issues, manage risks, optimize resources, and drive continuous improvement. The Assurance Chief of Staff will also be responsible for overseeing resource management personnel, coordinating cross-functional meetings, and monitoring the performance of the service line's projects and initiatives. To succeed in this position, you must exhibit strong project management skills and have proven experience in managing complex operations. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to influence and motivate others. The ideal candidate will be able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, demonstrating a proactive attitude and a flexible mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Assurance Managing Partner and other senior leaders to determine and prioritize the service line's strategies, goals, and objectives
  • Oversee the operations of the Assurance service line ensuring alignment with the service line's vision, mission, values, and standards
  • Provide oversight to resource management personnel in proper allocation/assignment of talent and assist in determining recruiting goals
  • Coordinate and facilitate cross-functional meetings and workshops, preparing agendas, materials, minutes, and action items
  • Monitor and report on the performance and progress of the service line's projects and initiatives, identifying risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities
  • Provide recommendations and consultation to the service line leaders and teams on best practices, processes, tools, and methodologies
  • Assist the People & Culture department with workforce planning, talent acquisition, retention, development, and performance management for the service line
  • Manage the service line's budget, financials, resources, and assets
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality, efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation of the service line
  • Help drive use of technology, automation and artificial intelligence to improve service offerings, execution and profitability
  • Support Assurance leadership in working with Growth leadership to measure and monitor pipeline, growth, and profitability
  • Facilitate resolutions on complex issues impacting Assurance Leadership and their direct reports
  • Connect Assurance Leadership's vision and strategic priorities to their direct reports and teams to ensure broad-based execution and drive business results
  • Manage the Assurance Leadership team's communications brand and relationships both inside and outside the organization
  • Exercise exceptional tact and discretion with confidential information

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration or related field
  • Minimum 12 years of experience including management in accounting or professional services or related fields is required; Assurance experience a plus
  • Active CPA license and/or PMP certification a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and operations in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • High emotional intelligence (EQ), with the ability to build trustful relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong communication skills (verbal/written/presentation), with the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences at different levels
  • Proactive attitude (self-starter/initiative-taker), with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
