About the position

As the Assurance Chief of Staff at Cherry Bekaert, you will play a pivotal role in the leadership team of the Assurance service line, providing strategic support and guidance to key projects and initiatives. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the operations of the Assurance service line, ensuring that all activities align with the business goals and objectives of the firm. You will work closely with the Assurance Managing Partner and other senior leaders to plan, execute, and monitor the progress of various activities within the service line. This role requires you to act as a liaison between the service line and other internal and external stakeholders, including clients, partners, and vendors, facilitating effective communication and collaboration across the board. In this position, you will be tasked with identifying and resolving issues, managing risks, optimizing resources, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will collaborate with senior leaders to determine and prioritize the service line's strategies, goals, and objectives, while also overseeing resource management personnel to ensure proper allocation and assignment of talent. Your role will involve coordinating cross-functional meetings and workshops, preparing necessary materials, and monitoring the performance and progress of the service line's projects and initiatives. You will provide recommendations and consultation on best practices, processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance the quality and efficiency of the service line's operations. Additionally, you will assist the People & Culture department with workforce planning, talent acquisition, retention, development, and performance management. Managing the service line's budget, financials, resources, and assets will also be part of your responsibilities. You will drive the use of technology, automation, and artificial intelligence to improve service offerings and profitability, while supporting Assurance leadership in measuring and monitoring pipeline, growth, and profitability. Your ability to connect the Assurance Leadership's vision and strategic priorities to their teams will be crucial in ensuring broad-based execution and driving business results. This role demands exceptional tact and discretion, especially when handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Assurance Managing Partner and other senior leaders to determine and prioritize the service line's strategies, goals, and objectives
  • Oversee the operations of the Assurance service line, ensuring alignment with the service line's vision, mission, values, and standards
  • Provide oversight to resource management personnel in proper allocation/assignment of talent and assist in determining recruiting goals
  • Coordinate and facilitate cross-functional meetings and workshops, preparing agendas, materials, minutes, and action items
  • Monitor and report on the performance and progress of the service line's projects and initiatives, identifying risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities
  • Provide recommendations and consultation to the service line leaders and teams on best practices, processes, tools, and methodologies
  • Assist the People & Culture department with workforce planning, talent acquisition, retention, development, and performance management for the service line
  • Manage the service line's budget, financials, resources, and assets
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality, efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation of the service line
  • Help drive use of technology, automation, and artificial intelligence to improve service offerings, execution, and profitability
  • Support Assurance leadership in working with Growth leadership to measure and monitor pipeline, growth, and profitability
  • Facilitate resolutions on complex issues impacting Assurance Leadership and their direct reports
  • Connect Assurance Leadership's vision and strategic priorities to their direct reports and teams to ensure broad-based execution and drive business results
  • Manage the Assurance Leadership team's communications brand and relationships both inside and outside the organization
  • Exercise exceptional tact and discretion with confidential information

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration or related field
  • Minimum 12 years of experience including management in accounting or professional services or related fields is required; Assurance experience a plus
  • Active CPA license and/or PMP certification a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and operations in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • High emotional intelligence (EQ), with the ability to build trustful relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong communication skills (verbal/written/presentation), with the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences at different levels
