About the position

The Experienced Manager - Assurance Quality Management is a pivotal role within BDO, responsible for assessing and understanding the causes of audit quality events. This position involves testing the Firm's system of quality management, maintaining and supporting audit quality tools, and managing responsive actions to enhance the Firm's quality management system. The Experienced Manager works closely with the National Managing Partner - Assurance Quality Management to perform investigative analyses of various quality-related events, gathering and analyzing data to identify systemic trends and conditions. This role also assists in planning audit quality improvements and in the development and implementation of audit quality indicators. In this role, the manager applies investigative and analytical skills along with technical knowledge to develop specific cause analyses. Advanced Excel skills are utilized to analyze and assimilate data effectively. The manager is responsible for gathering and analyzing audit quality indicators, demonstrating thought leadership and an inquisitive mindset to provide value-added insights to analyses and solutions. Additionally, the manager designs, documents, and enhances the system of quality management policies and processes, tests controls identified in the Firm's quality management system, develops deficiency analyses, and prepares annual certification reports. The Experienced Manager also assists in preparing various audit quality reports for leadership and the practice, maintains various audit quality programs, and supports professionals in confirming the completeness and accuracy of program data. The role includes assisting with PCAOB firm-level inspection activities, preparing firm-level remediation responses to regulators, and participating in programs designed to maintain standards of quality, independence, and risk management throughout the practice. The manager is expected to apply relevant GAAP, GAAS, SEC, PCAOB, and other applicable or emerging regulations and standards, along with the BDO Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, with honesty and integrity. Other duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or Economics, required.
  • Six (6) or more years of work experience, required.
  • CPA certification, required.
  • Advanced Excel skills, required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, preferred.
  • Experience with accounting research databases, preferred.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Solid understanding of accounting and auditing standards and reporting requirements.

Nice-to-haves
